Professional Journey

The Beginning

Martin’s path into cycling expertise started in 2010 when he combined a genuine passion for cycling with his academic background. He’d just completed his degree in Geography and Environmental Studies at Charles University in Prague, where he focused on transport planning and urban cycling infrastructure. That combination — real-world cycling experience plus technical training in geographic analysis — became the foundation for everything that followed.

Building Routes, Building Knowledge

For the first few years, Martin worked with municipal governments and environmental organizations across Czech Republic, developing sustainable cycling networks from the ground up. He wasn’t just planning routes on maps — he was cycling them, testing them, understanding what actually works for real riders. That hands-on approach became his trademark. By 2015, his work caught wider attention when he led the comprehensive mapping project for the South Bohemia Greenway, a project that became a template for regional cycling development across Central Europe.

Translating Expertise Into Resources

Over the last 9 years, Martin has authored more than 150 detailed route guides, safety analyses, and planning articles. He’s contributed to the development of digital route planning tools now used by thousands of cyclists annually. More importantly, he’s made his knowledge accessible — writing for cyclists of all skill levels, not just experts. Whether someone’s planning their first long-distance ride or evaluating urban bike lane safety, Martin’s work is there to help them make informed decisions.

What Drives the Work

At its core, Martin’s philosophy is straightforward: well-planned cycling infrastructure transforms both individual mobility and urban environments. He approaches every route with meticulous attention to safety, accessibility, and the natural beauty of the Czech landscape. That means families with children can enjoy these pathways confidently. It means experienced cyclists get challenging, well-marked routes. It means the routes actually encourage people to cycle instead of driving. That’s the real measure of success in his view — not perfect routes on paper, but routes that actually change how people move through their cities and countryside.
